Reflecting on days gone by, the creek house is a part
of a complex of buildings at Claude's Creek of the Ooltewah-Snow Hill area.
The building was constructed on the natural contour of the land, and the
limestone wall shown in the painting was built to hold the bank in place.
An ever flowing spring in the creek house furnished water for the family and
provided a place to store butter, milk, and cheese. Shown feeding on larvae, tadpoles and minnows in the
creek is a tipped heron.
